Jindeng Temple, China, Shanxi province buddhist temple

Welcome to Jindeng Temple, a Buddhist temple located in Xingcheng Town of Changzhi, Shanxi, China. This temple is renowned for its grottoes, rock formations, and statues of Buddha. The original temple dates back to the 6th century, during the Northern Qi dynasty. At that time, it was called "Baoyan Temple". Over the years, the temple has undergone several renovations and expansions. In June 2006, it was listed among the sixth group of "Major National Historical and Cultural Sites in Shanxi" by the State Council of China. Jindeng Temple is located in Beiquan Village, 65 kilometers northeast of Pingshun County. The entire complex is built on cliffs that are over 1,700 meters from the ground. The location provides visitors with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The temple features 14 Buddhist niches, 37 Buddhist shrines, and over 500 statues of Buddha carved from 1504 to 1565. Visitors can explore the various halls and pavilions, each with its unique architecture and design. The main buildings include the Hall of Water and Land, Hall of Grand Buddha, Hall of Lord Guan, Pavilion of Juxian, and Pavilion of Ksitigarbha. The Hall of Water and Land is the largest hall in the temple and is dedicated to the Bodhisattva of Water and Land. The Hall of Grand Buddha houses a large statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, which is over 10 meters tall. The Hall of Lord Guan is dedicated to the Chinese god of war, Guan Yu. The Pavilion of Juxian is a small pavilion that overlooks the valley below. The Pavilion of Ksitigarbha is dedicated to the bodhisattva of the same name. Visitors can also explore the grottoes and rock formations in the temple.
