Founded in 1874 as the Second Imperial Royal Czech Higher Gymnasium in Prague, the institution moved to its current location on Truhlářská Street in 1886.
The gymnasium offers an eight-year general education program with emphasis on languages, including English as primary foreign language and German or French as secondary options.
The school accepts 60 new students annually and holds open days in November and January for prospective students to visit the facilities.
