Schloss Neuburg, Renaissance palace in Neuburg an der Donau, Germany
The castle features four massive wings surrounding an inner courtyard with stone arcades and decorative Renaissance sgraffito on its facade.
The structure evolved from a medieval fortress to a Renaissance residence in 1530 under Count Palatine Ottheinrich, first ruler of Pfalz-Neuburg.
The palace chapel contains Lutheran paintings by Hans Bocksberger, representing an early example of Protestant religious art from the Reformation period.
The castle museum displays 550 pieces of historical art, including portraits, tapestries, weapons, and furniture from the Palatine-Bavarian period.
The courtyard walls present biblical scenes created between 1560 and 1562 by Dutch master Hans Schroer using the sgraffito technique.
