Hermannplatz, Underground transport station in Neukölln, Germany
The Hermannplatz station features two island platforms with four tracks, serving as an interchange between Berlin U-Bahn lines U7 and U8.
The station, which opened on October 12, 1926, was designed by architect Alfred Grenander and became the first Berlin U-Bahn station to incorporate escalators.
The station structure maintains its original architectural elements from the 1920s, reflecting the industrial design principles of early twentieth-century Berlin transport.
Two elevators provide access to the platforms, while multiple bus connections, including routes 171 and night buses N7 and N8, operate from street level.
A direct underground tunnel once connected the station to the Karstadt department store, allowing passengers to access the retail space without exiting to street level.
