Bartholomäuskirche Markgröningen

The Bartholomäuskirche features two distinct church towers with different spires and stands on an elevated platform above the early medieval village core.

Count Hartmann II initiated the construction in the mid-13th century, building upon foundations of a previous Romanesque church that dated back to the 8th century.

The church houses wooden choir stalls from the 14th century with carved figures, including representations of Christopher and the apostles Peter and Paul.

The church maintains five bells in its south tower and contains an organ with 34 registers, renovated in 1978 and positioned on the western gallery.

The high watchtower contains medieval standard measurements embedded in its foundation: a rod measuring 4.745 meters and a cloth measure of 0.629 meters.
