Strausberg Bunker, Cold War telephone exchange and bunker in Strausberg, Germany
The Strausberg Bunker extends across 8,500 square meters with two floors, featuring a 65-meter wide structure designed for military communications during the Cold War period.
Deutsche Post constructed this fortified communication center in the early 1980s as part of the S1-Netz DDR network to support East German military operations.
The facility represents East Germany's technological infrastructure, serving as a testament to the communication systems developed during the German Democratic Republic era.
Visitors can access the bunker through organized tours by the Orte der Geschichte association, which started opening sections to the public in 2019.
The extensive tunnel system leading to the main bunker structure is being transformed into an art gallery while maintaining its historical significance.
