Curiohaus, Heritage monument in Rotherbaum, Hamburg, Germany

The Curiohaus is an event venue in Hamburg with multiple floors and halls of varying sizes, including a grand ballroom and a white hall with a surrounding gallery. The spaces connect through corridors with parquet floors and terrazzo staircases that create bright passages linking different areas.

Built in 1911 as a society house, the building later became a location for British military tribunals addressing Nazi crimes after the Second World War. This period marked an important chapter in the city's reckoning with its past.

During the 1920s, this building served as a gathering place for Hamburg's artists and intellectuals who met here for events and celebrations. Visitors can still sense how it functioned as a hub for creative and social encounters.

The building is located in an easily accessible area of Hamburg and offers multiple entrances for different event areas. Visitors should allow time to explore all the rooms and corridors, as there are several hidden nooks and passages to discover.

The building features four levels of foyers that form a maze-like network with various staircases and transitions throughout. This hidden architectural layout makes exploring the rooms a discovery journey with surprising corners.
