Marienkirche Herzberg

The Marienkirche spans 42.5 meters in length and rises to 64.27 meters with its golden cross atop a brick structure featuring three naves.

Built around 1350 on earlier foundations, the church underwent reconstruction after a tower fire in 1483 and received substantial modifications throughout the 16th century.

The church houses full-length portraits of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon from the late 16th century, reflecting its connection to Protestant reformation.

The interior contains preserved 15th-century vaulted frescoes and a Renaissance pulpit displaying representations of the four Evangelists at the southern pillar.

The tower holds a collection of historical documents and coins from various centuries stored within its weathervane sphere.
