Abbaye d'Auhausen

The monastery features two square towers with pyramidal roofs and contains a three-nave pillar basilica with Renaissance paintings from 1542.

Founded in the early 12th century, the monastery received its first papal privilege from Innocent II in 1136 and operated until the Reformation in 1537.

The church maintains its late Gothic choir with star vault ceilings and contains a high altar with multi-paneled altarpieces created in 1513.

The former monastery now functions as an Evangelical parish church and displays medieval paintings, religious narratives, and architectural elements from various periods.

Five medieval bells remain in the tower, with the oldest midday bell dating from 1264, maintaining a traditional tolling schedule five times daily.
