Ottonianum, Educational heritage monument in Bamberg, Germany
The Ottonianum stands near Heinrichsdamm street, featuring a high tower on its east facade and distinct cubic architectural elements in its design.
The building, inaugurated in 1928, originated from architect Ludwig Ruff's design modifications during Germany's economic challenges following World War I.
This former archbishop's preparatory school educated generations of young men from the Archdiocese of Bamberg until its closure in 1999.
The structure now houses departments of the Archbishop's Ordinariate and conference rooms after extensive renovations completed in the early 2000s.
During World War II, the building served as a military hospital, causing all students to relocate while the facilities supported medical operations.
