Saint Mary Church

Saint Mary Church features a substantial double tower facade with round-arched columned portals and intricate Gothic windows across its stone structure.

The church, initially constructed in the 12th century and consecrated in 1235, underwent reconstruction after a devastating fire in 1780 destroyed everything except outer walls.

The interior includes a broad late-Baroque altarpiece from 1788 and an Adam Eifert organ installed in 1903 with 32 stops across three manuals.

Visitors can explore both the interior and exterior of the church, which maintains regular Protestant worship services under the Evangelical Church in Central Germany.

The church incorporates a wooden staircase in its south tower, added during the 1899 renovation that aimed to restore Gothic architectural elements.
