The monastery complex includes the Abbey building from 1754, several residences for noble ladies, a garden, and the St. Mauritius and St. Viktor Church.

Between 846 and 850, the noblewoman Liutgard established the Kanonissenstift Bassum as an educational institution for daughters of aristocratic families.

The monastery houses significant art historical pieces and contains a chapter hall with historical wall coverings that reflect medieval religious traditions.

The monastery offers guided tours through its 1150-year history, with visits available for 5.50 euros, including entrance to the Abbey.
