Ostrockmuseum Kröpelin

The Ostrockmuseum exhibits a collection of recordings, instruments, documents, and memorabilia related to East German rock music spanning four decades.

The museum opened on July 3, 2015, emerging from the collection of the Berlin-based Sechzig-Vierzig association that sought a permanent location for their artifacts.

Visitors can explore five thematic sections, including a recreation of a DDR record store and exhibits about performance conditions for musicians during that period.

Located at Hauptstrasse 5, the museum shares space with the town library and includes access to the city museum within the same entrance fee.

The culture functionary office section reveals how SED party officials influenced and controlled entertainment music production in East Germany from 1945 onwards.
