St.-Petri-Kirche, Gothic Revival church in Zentrum district, Chemnitz, Germany

The St.-Petri-Kirche features a 82-meter-high steeple cross, sandstone and brick construction, with large mosaic windows depicting biblical scenes throughout the structure.

Constructed between 1885 and 1888, the church emerged from an architectural competition won by Hans Enger among 58 entries, with construction costs reaching 700,000 marks.

The church maintains an active music program with regular concerts and services, continuing the musical traditions established through its Friedrich Ladegast organ with 57 registers.

Located at Theaterplatz near the opera house, the church accommodates 1200 seats and measures 59 meters in length and 36 meters in width.

The bells currently in use at St.-Petri-Kirche were salvaged from the war-destroyed Lukaskirche, replacing the original G.A. Jauck bells from 1887.
