Oti Region, Administrative division in northeastern Ghana
The Oti Region is an administrative area in northeastern Ghana characterized by valleys, hills, and the Oti River running along its western edge. The landscape is predominantly rural with farming communities and scattered settlements.
The region was created through a referendum in December 2018 and officially inaugurated in May 2019 with Dambai as its capital. Its formation was part of a broader administrative reorganization in Ghana.
The region is home to Ewe, Akan, and Guan communities, each with their own languages and customs. These groups shape daily life and local traditions through their ceremonies and celebrations.
The best time to visit is during the dry season when roads are passable and weather is favorable. Visitors should prepare for limited urban facilities since the region is predominantly rural.
The area contains significant iron ore deposits in Akokrowa, which hold economic potential for the region. The Kyabobo National Park is also located here, where visitors can encounter diverse wildlife.
