Lake Pamvotida, Lake in Epirus Region, Greece.
Lake Pamvotida extends across 19.4 square kilometers at an altitude of 470 meters, forming the largest water surface in the Epirus Region.
The lake contains an island where Ottoman governor Ali Pasha established his fortress during the early nineteenth century before meeting his final days.
The settlements around Lake Pamvotida maintain traditions through local festivals, music performances, and the preparation of regional fish specialties.
Visitors can reach the lake through Greek National Road 6, with boat services operating from multiple points along the shore to the central island.
The water body features an internal drainage system through karstic sinkholes that connect to three different rivers: Arachthos, Louros, and Kalamas.
