Notre-Dame de Paris, Cathedral in Paris, France

Notre-Dame de Paris is a medieval Catholic cathedral located on the Île de la Cité in Paris.

The construction of Notre-Dame began in 1163 during the reign of Louis VII and was completed in 1345.

It's one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture and its sculptures and stained glass show the heavy influence of naturalism.

The cathedral was desecrated during the French Revolution but was later restored by architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc.

Notre-Dame has a relic that is believed to be the Crown of Thorns worn by Jesus Christ.
