Hindenburg Line, Military line in France
The Hindenburg Line was a German defensive position of World War I, built during the winter of 1916–1917 on the Western Front.
It was named after Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg, the President of Germany at that time.
The Hindenburg Line has been referenced in various forms of media, including literature and film, symbolizing the futility and destructiveness of war.
Today, visitors can explore remnants of the line and several memorials along its path.
Despite its formidable reputation, the Hindenburg Line was ultimately breached by Allied forces in September 1918.
