Abbaye d'Écurey

The abbey complex includes preserved facades, roofs, a portal, a semicircular structure, a watering trough, and an agricultural farm building from the 18th century.

Founded in 1144 by the monks of Vaux Abbey, the monastery received support from local nobility and underwent architectural changes during subsequent centuries.

The former religious site transformed into an iron foundry in the 19th century, producing decorative cast iron pieces until its closure in 1987.

The buildings and archaeological remains of the medieval abbey received official protection status as a historical monument in April 1993.

The site now functions as a rural excellence center focused on energy transition and eco-construction, with research projects involving nettle cultivation.
