Abbaye de l'Isle-Dieu

The abbey complex features stone buildings constructed with local materials including limestone and gravel, situated along the peaceful Andelle Valley.

Founded in 1187 by Hugh of Saint-Jovinien and Regnault of Pavilly, the abbey church was consecrated in 1207 and extended over 20 fathoms in length.

The abbey stands as a testament to Premonstratensian architecture, representing one of the few remaining examples of this religious order in the Eure department.

The current buildings, transformed into an industrial facility, maintain portions of their original medieval structure and are listed in France's general cultural heritage inventory.

Throughout its existence, the abbey complex evolved from a religious center to a cotton mill in the 1800s and later into a plastic manufacturing facility.
