Château de Châteaubriant, Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire

The castle exhibits a symmetrical facade with decorative grilles, positioned on a hill that provides views over the Maine River and surrounding landscape.

Michel Bardoul de la Bigottière designed substantial modifications to the castle in 1769 when Darlus de Montclerc commissioned the renovation of the estate.

The Cointreau family purchased the property in 1898, transforming it into their summer residence where artist Jean-Adrien Mercier later established his home.

The property contains seven hectares of landscaped gardens with curved paths, a central water feature, and an octagonal pavilion in the western section.

The northern section features an asymmetrical window arrangement and preserves a wooden baluster staircase from the 17th century.
