Saint Malo Castle, Medieval castle in Saint-Malo, France.

The stone fortress features a D-shaped keep, four defensive towers, and thick walls positioned at the entrance of the walled city near the English Channel.

Duke John V of Brittany initiated the construction of the castle in 1424, incorporating existing 14th-century fortifications to establish control over Saint-Malo.

The castle houses a museum displaying maritime artifacts, local history exhibits, and collections related to 19th-century writers including Chateaubriand.

The castle museum undergoes renovation works and remains closed to visitors until further notice, with plans to reopen with updated exhibitions.

The Quic-en-Groigne Tower, added between 1498 and 1501, received its name from Queen Anne of Brittany as a response to local protests.
