Château d'Hauterives, Medieval fortress in Sainte-Enimie, France.

The stone remains of Château d'Hauterives stand on a high rock formation, featuring two massive wall sections and an exceptionally tall keep.

The castle first appeared in records during the 11th century and belonged to the viscounts of Arpajon, who were connected to the counts of Rodez.

The fortress controlled passage through the gorges and marked the northern limit of the House of Anduze's territory in medieval times.

The ruins are accessible without charge, although reaching the village requires using paths from Sainte-Enimie or La Malène.

Between the castle and hamlet stands Castelas, a restored castle town that demonstrates the architectural elements of medieval defensive structures.
