Commanderie d'Épailly, Medieval commandry in Courban, France

The Commanderie d'Épailly includes a Gothic chapel, cellar with vaults, granges, dovecote, surrounding wall, and defensive tower within its preserved complex.

Founded around 1200 by the Knights Templar, the commandry received substantial donations from Milon, Count of Bar-sur-Seine, starting in 1210.

The Saint-Georges Chapel, built in the 13th century, represents the architectural and religious practices of medieval military orders in France.

The agricultural estate maintains its original undivided domain, with buildings replaced over time providing insight into the commandry's former appearance.

The commandry did not transfer to the Hospitallers in 1312 as Pope Clement V granted it to Othon I of Grandson in 1308.
