Tour des Pins, Medieval tower in Montpellier, France
The Tour des Pins stands 25 meters tall with a cylindrical structure made of local stone, featuring defensive architecture from the medieval period.
Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, this tower represents one of the last two remaining structures from Montpellier's original 25 defensive fortification towers.
The tower houses two local heritage associations dedicated to preserving Montpellier traditions, including the Brotherhood of the Barons of Caravetes.
Located at 12 Boulevard Henri IV, the tower is accessible via tram line 1, with the nearest stop at Albert 1er station.
The tower derives its name from pine trees that grew at its summit, which led to a prediction about the city's fate being tied to these trees.
