Danger Tree, war landmark in France
The Danger Tree marks a location within the Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial.
It represents the furthest point of advancement by the Royal Newfoundland Regiment on July 1, 1916, during the Battle of the Somme.
The tree is a symbol of remembrance for the soldiers of the Newfoundland Regiment who fought and fell in World War I.
Visitors can access the site year-round to pay their respects and learn about the somber historical events.
The original Danger Tree was destroyed in the war, but a replica now stands in its place.
