Hôtel de ville de Mulhouse, Renaissance town hall in Place de la Réunion, France.
The pink-colored town hall features exterior trompe l'oeil paintings depicting Reformed religious virtues and displays coats of arms of Swiss allied cities.
Following a fire in 1551, Basel stone mason Michel Lynthumer directed the reconstruction of the building, completing the new structure in 1552.
The Grand Council Room maintains period architectural elements including sculpted columns and stained glass windows, representing Renaissance municipal architecture.
The building houses the Historical Museum of Mulhouse, which presents local history exhibits and welcomes visitors during regular opening hours.
The Klapperstein, a heavy stone punishment device, remains attached to the building as a reminder of medieval public shaming practices.
