Palace of Justice of Aix-en-Provence, Neoclassical courthouse in Place de Verdun, Aix-en-Provence, France.

The Palace of Justice displays a symmetrical stone facade with sculptural decorations by Joseph-Marius Ramus depicting legal figures at each side of the building.

Construction began in 1787 under architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux, paused during the French Revolution, and resumed in 1822 under Michel-Robert Penchaud until completion in 1831.

The grand hall features three decorative panels titled 'La Cour du Roi René' painted by Henri Rondel in 1906, depicting the annexation of Provence to France.

The courthouse handles civil and commercial appeals cases, as well as proceedings of the Court of Assizes for the Aix-en-Provence jurisdiction.

The construction required the demolition of two hundred houses and the former Comtal Palace to create space for this monumental legal institution.
