Saint-Laurent

Saint-Laurent Island stretches 520 meters in length and 300 meters in width, connected to the mainland by three distinct bridges across the Saône River.

Between 1449 and 1450, the island hosted the Pas de la Fontaine aux Pleurs tournament organized by Jacques de Lalaing at the border of two major territories.

The island contains multiple architectural elements including the Uxelles Barracks, the former city hospital, and the medieval Doyenné Tower, representing different construction periods.

Visitors access the island through the Pont Saint-Laurent on the west, the Pont de la Génise on the east, or the Pont Place Pierre-Soubrane on the south.

The marina at Port de plaisance du Grand Chalon maintains 150 berths with fuel distribution services operating from May through September for river navigation.
