Welcome to the Mont Rond transmitter, located on the Petit Montrond, a summit in the Jura Mountains in Ain. This site is used for television, FM radio, mobile phone and WiMAX transmission. It covers a large area from Bourgogne-Franche-Comté to the Swiss Romande region, serving as a relay for French TV and radio channels. The transmitter was installed in 1961 at an altitude of 1532 meters and stands at a height of 70 meters. To reach the transmitter, head to the town of Mijoux. During the summer months, you can drive up to the site. In winter, take the Montrond cable car from the Monts Jura ski resort. The views from the cable car are breathtaking, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. The analog terrestrial channels ceased broadcasting on June 14, 2011, with Canal+ having already stopped its analog broadcasts on September 22, 2010. France 5/Arte and M6 were broadcast by local transmitters in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Ain, and Haute-Savoie. The Vesancy transmitter was responsible for broadcasting these two channels, as well as TV8 Mont-Blanc and France 3 Alpes, to the Swiss Romande region. Today, only TV8 Mont-Blanc is broadcast via a simplex R15. For a long time, the region was deprived of digital HD1, L'Equipe, 6ter, Numéro 23, RMC Découverte, and Chérie 25 channels. However, the Mont Rond transmitter now broadcasts these channels, covering not only Ain and Haute-Savoie but also Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Visitors to the Mont Rond transmitter can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The site is also a great place for photography enthusiasts, with plenty of opportunities to capture the beauty of the Jura Mountains. In conclusion, the Mont Rond transmitter is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in technology, broadcasting, or simply looking for a unique and breathtaking view of the Jura Mountains.
