Mamzyshkha, mountain in the Gagra Range, Caucasus Mountains, Georgia

Mamdyzshha is a mountain in Abkhazia; located six kilometers from the town of Gagra. Its height is 1873 meters above sea level. On the other side of the mountain is the Mamdyzshha ridge, through which it is possible to descend to the famous Blue Lake. At the beginning of the twentieth century, a carriage road designed by Iosif MalakiyevichMaruashvili was laid out to the peak of Mamdyzshha - a winding serpentine road 30 kilometers long, which was almost completely covered with asphalt during the Soviet times. It was planned to create a ski resort at the top, complete with a ropeway and hotels. Along the road, lookouts are located at different heights. On clear days, an amazing panorama of the Black Sea coast can be seen from a bird's eye view, from Sukhumi to Sochi, especially Gagra and Pitsunda.
