Ashkelon National Park

The park combines ancient ruins, Mediterranean beaches, and native vegetation across several hectares along the coastline south of modern Ashkelon.

The site contains remains from multiple civilizations, including a Middle Bronze Age gate with the world's earliest known arch, dating to 1850 BCE.

Archaeological excavations have revealed structures that transformed from a pagan temple to a church and later a mosque, reflecting the area's diverse heritage.

The park provides guided tours, walking trails, picnic areas, and informational signs that explain the historical significance of different archaeological sections.

Excavations uncovered the largest known ancient dog cemetery, containing over 1,300 carefully buried canines from the Persian period.
