Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden, Botanic garden in India
The Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden is a sprawling 109 hectares of flora in Howrah, near Kolkata.
Established in 1787 by Colonel Robert Kyd, it was originally intended for the cultivation of plants with commercial value.
The garden is named after Jagadish Chandra Bose, a renowned Indian scientist, and houses over 12,000 specimens of plants.
Visitors can enjoy a boat ride on the garden's lake or explore the Great Banyan Tree, which has the widest canopy in the world.
It is home to the world's largest banyan tree.
