Lahori Gate, Gate in India

The Lahori Gate is a massive gate located within the Red Fort complex in Delhi, India.

It was so named because it leads to the city of Lahore, in Pakistan. This direction obviously points to the Indian sub-continent's historical ties with the Western neighbour.

This gate holds a significant cultural value as it is here where the Prime Minister of India hoists the 'tricolour' (national flag) and delivers a speech on Independence Day (15th August).

Tourists can access the site as it remains open all through the week from Sunrise till 10 PM. However, make sure to maintain decorum and respect the sanctity of this national monument.

What makes it unique is its imposing structure that beautifully showcases the Mughal architecture, making it an outstanding symbol of the nation's powerful history.

Location: Central Delhi district
