Torbat-e Heydarieh

Located at 1351 meters above sea level, Torbat-e Heydarieh extends across the central region of Razavi Khorasan province, 175 kilometers from Mashhad.

During the Mongol invasion, the city faced significant destruction, leading to its transformation from ancient Zaveh to Torbat-e Heydarieh under Ishaq Khan Qaraei's rule.

The Persian name Torbat means burial place, referencing Qutb ad-Din Haydar, the Sufi mystic whose tomb remains in the central part of the city.

The city maintains several educational institutions, including Torbat Heydariyeh University and Islamic Azad University, serving as a regional academic center.

Torbat-e Heydarieh produces 70 percent of Khorasan Razavi Province's saffron and 86 percent of Iran's silk yarn production occurs in this region.
