Dokhtar Castle

The fortress extends over 720 meters on a steep cliff, reaching an elevation of 1,765 meters with stone walls exceeding 2 meters in width.

Built between 1000 and 1400 CE, the castle incorporates architectural elements from Parthian, Sasanian, Samanid, and Ilkhanid periods, serving as a defensive structure.

The fortress name 'Dokhtar' reflects Persian linguistic traditions, where the term signifies an impregnable structure protecting the northern approach to Kerman city.

The fortress contains multiple water reservoirs carved into rock, with some chambers capable of storing hundreds of liters for extended periods of isolation.

The structure combines six different building materials: adobe, rubble, mud, plaster, lime mortar, and saruj, creating resilient walls that withstand harsh climate conditions.
