Lucera Cathedral, Gothic cathedral in Lucera, Italy.

The Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral stands in Lucera's historical center with a three-section asymmetrical facade and an octagonal tower from the 16th century.

Charles II of Anjou ordered the cathedral's construction in 1302 on the site of a former mosque, which Emperor Frederick II had established for Saracen settlers.

The interior follows French Gothic design principles with three naves, pointed arches, and medieval artworks including a 1340 Rhineland crucifix and 15th-century frescoes.

The cathedral opens daily for religious services and includes the Madonna della Vittoria statue on the left transept altar for devotional visits.

The stone high altar originated from Castel Fiorentino, where Emperor Frederick II died in 1250, connecting the cathedral to significant Italian historical events.
