Sferisterio di Macerata, Neoclassical open-air theatre in Macerata, Italy.

The Sferisterio features a long wall with 56 arches and columns, stretching 88 meters in length and reaching 18 meters in height.

Built in 1829 by architect Ireneo Aleandri, the theatre initially served as a venue for traditional Italian handball games before transforming into an opera space.

The Macerata Opera Festival, held annually during summer months, presents grand opera productions including works from Verdi, Puccini, and other composers.

The theatre accommodates 10,000 spectators with excellent acoustics and maintains regular schedules for guided tours throughout the performance season.

The structure combines sports heritage and performing arts, featuring a 90-degree angle wall that originally aided ball games and now enhances sound projection.
