Monumental Cemetery, Historic cemetery in Pisa, Italy

The Camposanto Monumentale is a historical edifice at the northern edge of the Cathedral Square in Pisa.

Constructed in 1278, the Camposanto Monumentale was once believed to be the most beautiful cemetery in the world.

It contains a collection of Roman sarcophagi and frescoes damaged during World War II.

Visitors can explore the monument daily from 9 am to 6 pm.

The soil in Camposanto Monumentale was brought back from Golgotha during the Crusades, which was thought to have the ability to reduce bodies to bones in just 24 hours.
