Fontana della Barcaccia, Fountain in Rome, Italy
Fontana della Barcaccia is a Baroque-style fountain found at the foot of the Spanish Steps in Rome's Piazza di Spagna.
The fountain was commissioned by Pope Urban VIII and was completed in 1627 by Pietro Bernini and his son Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
The fountain's design, a half-sunken ship with water overflowing its sides, is said to be based on a folk legend related to the Great Flood of 1598.
It's a popular meeting spot for both locals and tourists, and it's also used as a backdrop for various concerts and events.
Unlike most fountains which are commonly elevated, Fontana della Barcaccia is built at street level, creating the illusion of a sinking boat.
