Santa Maria di Casanova, Cistercian abbey in Villa Celiera, Italy

The Santa Maria di Casanova Abbey features a restored tower standing amid stone ruins in the Province of Pescara, Abruzzo region.

Founded in 1191 by the mother abbey of Tre Fontane in Rome, this monastery operated until its suppression by Joseph Bonaparte in 1807.

The abbey supervised three daughter monasteries: the Abbey of St. Mary of Ripalta, San Pastore Abbey, and Santo Spirito d'Ocre.
