Commissioned by Ostrogoth King Theodoric the Great during the first quarter of the 6th century CE.

Nowadays, extensive archaeological efforts aim to uncover and preserve the remnants of this magnificent structure.
Though much of the palace has not survived, its intricate mosaic floor can still be admired at the nearby museum.
