Sacred Mount Calvary of Domodossola

The Sacred Mount Calvary features fifteen chapels along a stone-paved path through dense woods leading to a sanctuary at the summit.

Construction began in 1656 to create a Via Crucis, and in 1828 Antonio Rosmini established the Casa Madre dell'Istituto della Carità at its peak.

The site maintains its role as a spiritual center for Rosminians, hosting international postulancy activities and religious ceremonies throughout the year.

Located near Domodossola's railway station, the sanctuary receives 50,000 visitors annually and provides wheelchair accessibility throughout the main areas.

The complex integrates medieval Mattarella Castle, religious buildings, and a botanical garden within a Special Nature Reserve established in 1991.
