Basilica of Saint Augustine in Campo Marzio
Basilica of Saint Augustine in Campo Marzio, Church in Rome, Italy
Sant'Agostino is a Roman Catholic church in the piazza of the same name near Piazza Navona, in the rione Sant'Eustachio, of Rome, Italy.
It was built between 1479 and 1483, making it one of the first Roman churches to break from the Gothic style and use design elements of the Renaissance.
The church houses the Madonna di Loreto, considered one of Caravaggio's masterpieces, and the tomb of Saint Monica, mother of Saint Augustine.
The church is open daily for visitors and offers mass services in Italian.
The facade of Sant'Agostino is said to have been constructed using travertine taken from the Colosseum.
