Sant'Appiano

The church features three naves with different architectural elements, including stone arcades on the left and red brick columns with flowered capitals on the right.

The structure became property of the Bishop of Florence in 990, and in 1171 the bell tower collapsed, leading to the reconstruction of the right aisle.

Renaissance frescoes created by Ghirlandaio's workshop students decorate the left aisle, showing The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian and other religious figures.

The Antiquarium museum adjacent to the church displays archaeological findings from the area, including Etruscan funerary urns and medieval pottery collections.

Four stone pillars with early Christian symbols remain from the ancient baptistery built in the 4th century, which collapsed at the start of the 19th century.
