Riserva naturale Montedimezzo

The Montedimezzo Natural Reserve spans 276 hectares across the northern and western slopes of Mount La Penna, reaching elevations between 900 and 1300 meters.

The territory belonged to the Angevin rulers during medieval times and later passed through Carthusian monks before becoming state property after Italian unification.

The reserve participates in UNESCO's Man and Biosphere program, promoting balanced relationships between humans and nature through biodiversity protection and sustainable practices.

Visitors can access multiple hiking trails, a natural history museum without architectural barriers, and designated picnic areas equipped with tables and barbecue facilities.

The reserve contains specific microclimates where Turkey oak trees develop on clay substrates, adapting to periods of drought while sharing space with beech forests.
