Riserva naturale Pineta di Santa Filomena

Riserva naturale Pineta di Santa Filomena is a protected coastal woodland between Pescara and Montesilvano covered with maritime pines and Mediterranean plants. The forest stretches as a narrow, elongated strip close to the water and forms a green barrier between the city and the shoreline.

The woodland was established in the 1920s and 1930s to shield agricultural land from strong coastal winds. The area gained its current protected status in the 1970s when the value of such natural buffer zones became clear.

Today it serves as a gathering place for families and nature lovers who appreciate the quietness of the forest and want to experience one of the coast's remaining pine woodlands.
