Piazza Napoleone, Historic square in Lucca, Italy.
Rectangular plaza with ordered sycamore trees features the grand Palazzo Ducale occupying its entire western side and a central marble statue.
The square underwent a major transformation in 1806 when Elisa Bonaparte, Napoleon's sister and Duchess of Lucca, ordered the demolition of existing structures.
The central space hosts the Lucca Summer Festival each July, bringing international music performances to the heart of the city.
Located 650 meters from Lucca railway station, the square contains multiple bus stops serving lines 5, LAM Blu, and LAM Verde.
Glass blocks embedded in the pavement reveal archaeological remains of buildings demolished during the Napoleonic period, discovered during excavations in 1998.
