Torre d'Oglio pontoon bridge

The Torre d'Oglio bridge connects San Matteo delle Chiaviche and Cesole over the Oglio River using a system of floating platforms to support its structure.

From 1750 to 1926, river crossings relied on paid rafts and boats until local municipalities collaborated to construct the first permanent pontoon bridge at this location.

The bridge forms part of the Oglio Sud Natural Park, where residents gather for seasonal riverside activities and traditional community celebrations throughout the year.

Located on Provincial Road 57, the bridge provides essential passage for vehicles and pedestrians between the municipalities of Viadana and Marcaria in Mantua province.

Recent modernization works have fixed the bridge to its fourth landing point, modifying its original design that allowed movement according to river water levels.
