White Tower, Bell tower in Brixen, Italy
The White Tower reaches a height of 72 meters and features four oriels at its upper section connected to Saint Michael parish church.
Built in 1459 after a fire destroyed the previous structure, the tower received its current name in 1591 when the octagonal brick helmet was painted white.
The tower houses a carillon system of 43 bells, including six main bells cast by Luigi Colbachini in 1922 and a death knell from 1899.
The structure contains approximately 200 stairs leading to different functional areas, including the clock mechanism and bell chambers on the upper floors.
Until World War II, a night watchman lived inside the tower's oriels to monitor the surrounding area and protect the city from potential dangers.
